Description

Climate Change and its impacts are likely to undermine many development planning outcomes and threaten the resilience of livelihoods and ecosystems most especially to countries like Uganda whose capacity to cope is still limited. Uganda is insignificant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

The project was conducted in Masaka District, Uganda. The Government of Uganda was implementing the tree planting project under Lake Victoria Environment Management project phase 11(LVEMP11) through the Ministry of Water and Environment. Agro Enviro Tech Outreach Initiatives was contracted to carry out tree planting project activities under LVEMP 11 in Masaka District. LVEMP 11 was implemented in 5 countries surrounding lake Victoria, Uganda inclusive.

Objectives: LVEMP11 had 4 components which were the objectives to be achieved: • Component1: Strengthening Institutional capacity of managing shared water and fisheries
• Component 2: Point sources pollution control and prevention
• Component3: Water shed management
• Component 4: Project correlation and management.

Tree planting was under component 3. One of the strategic intervention for implementation of component 3 is through tree planting which was conducted in 9 districts of south western Uganda known as katonga sub- catchment  disticts.
